RIAYA Foundation’s Walk30+ Event Inspires Community to Prioritize Health

Kuchchaveli, Trincomalee, Sri Lanka – The RIAYA Foundation successfully hosted its highly anticipated Walk30+ event in Kuchchaveli, bringing together community members, healthcare professionals, and local leaders to promote the importance of daily walking for better health.

The event, held on 14-June-2025, aimed to raise awareness about the health benefits of walking, encouraging participants to dedicate at least 30 minutes a day to physical activity. Organized by RIAYA Foundation, the initiative aligns with global efforts to combat sedentary lifestyles and prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.

Community Engagement & Inspiring Leadership

The event commenced with an opening ceremony led by A. K. Haffar (Program Manager, RIAYA Foundation), followed by speeches from distinguished guests, including K. M. Harish (Sport Officer) and M. H. M. Safir (Principal, Annoor M. M. V), emphasizing how regular walking enhances mental and physical well-being.

The community walk, the central activity of the event, saw participants walk a designated 30-minute route through Kuchchaveli, guided by volunteers and local youth leaders. Attendees included healthcare advocates, educators, sports officials, and members of the local community who embraced the message of health and wellness.

Chief Guest A. S. M. Fayis (Director of Planning – Chief Ministry) delivered an impactful speech on how Walk30+ serves as a movement for change, fostering health consciousness and instilling positive habits within the community.

Chairman of RIAYA Foundation, A. R. Muzammil, passionately outlined the vision behind Walk30+, highlighting the organization’s commitment to creating sustainable health initiatives that empower individuals to take control of their well-being.

Future Plans & Expansion

Following the success of the event, RIAYA Foundation announced plans to expand Walk30+ to more regions in Sri Lanka, partnering with sports institutions, healthcare agencies, and government bodies to increase its impact.

“This is just the beginning,” said A. R. Muzammil. “We want to make Walk30+ a national movement, encouraging communities everywhere to prioritize health and wellness.”
